New Year, New Goals

and a Very Different World

Last year we dove into 2020 with excitement, ready to tackle our goals & declare it the BEST YEAR EVER! Little did we know what was on the horizon!

So, now what? How do we strive for good health, happiness and growth when some are still feeling the stress of the last 10 months?

First – acknowledge what’s real.

If 2020 was actually a good year for you, then great, celebrate the wins. If it was a crummy year, then recognize that, we can’t address something if we hide from it.

Second – feel the feelings.

Not always fun, but part of being human & if we “stuff” feelings, they have a way of showing up when we least expect them or impacting our health.

Third – take inventory.

What is not working? What do you need to change? What do you want? A fearless inventory is a powerful tool for self-improvement.

If you don’t mind me pausing and speaking personally, I can share what was hard for me in 2020. As a small business owner running a good sized clinic with large groups of people gathering for classes & teaching educational seminars to other doctors – it was a time of upheaval.

I chose to keep our entire staff employed (we even expanded our team), closed the large physical clinic, took most of the practice virtual, opened a new smaller clinic downtown and converted our entire world of “paper” to “digital”.

It was exhausting.

On a personal note my daughter started college “in our living room”, my husband changed jobs with a long commute, I felt stir crazy staring at the same 4 walls with no social outlets, and being busy “taking care of everyone else” meant my own health took a hit. Not good.

There are certainly others who had more challenging circumstances, but as you know, suffering is relative and I had no problem complaining about the stress while binging Netflix with some backyard S’Mores.

Now, it’s time to clean up the mess.

Our 11th Body Love Challenge begins in January – an incredible free health class series and weight loss challenge.

Although we are teaching life-changing information, I think we all need a little more humor – so I hope we can tackle our self-care together with a giggle or two.
