Join the Hope Walk on May 21

My cancer journey began December 2017 following the results of an annual mammogram. I remember receiving the call from my doctor while out buying Christmas candy. She sounded like Charlie Brown’s mum after I heard the words “breast cancer.” I was advised to have a lumpectomy, but an angel on my shoulder prompted me to have a double mastectomy. I didn’t know how to navigate this new normal, thankfully my oncologist recommended Cancer Support Community (CSC).

In CSC I found a family who had walked the cancer path and was my guide in those scary early days. They spoke the language and shared their inspirational stories.

I continue classes at CSC to stay informed on nutrition, exercise, and planning for my future. The free emotional support and educational programs have helped me and my family make informed lifesaving decisions and embrace our new normal.

To give back this year, I am proud to lead the CSC Hope Walk on May 21st as the event chairperson. I remember my first Hope Walk 6-weeks post-surgery. I felt invincible as we proudly walked through Heather Farm Park. I hope you’ll join me in walking and supporting CSC. Learn more at hopewalkbayarea.net. You can also choose to join the virtual Hope Walk Week by walking anytime between May 15 and May 21.
