Finance 102: Fall 2021 Series

Walnut Creek Library Foundation offers free virtual workshops

Finance 102, presented by the Walnut Creek Library Foundation, is a series of three free workshops facilitated by local financial and legal experts and designed to provide information on financial planning for the long-term. Experts will discuss cybersecurity and the FBI; trust and estate planning; and investing in unprecedented times. Q&A will follow each presentation.

The workshops will be held from 7:00–8:30 pm via Zoom on three consecutive Thursdays in September: 16th, 23rd, and 30th. Individuals can sign up for any one or more of the workshops. Attendees must register online to reserve a place at or by phone at 925.935.5395.

September 16, 2021:

Cybersecurity and Partnering with the FBI

Presenter: Enrique M. Alvarez, Supervisory Special Agent, FBI San Francisco’s Cyber Branch

Supervisory Special Agent Enrique Alvarez of FBI San Francisco’s Cyber Branch will give a presentation on cybersecurity and how the FBI investigates cybercrime. Alvarez will provide an overview of how malicious cyber actors perpetrate cybercrime and how they are organized. He will conclude by describing best practices for protecting yourself from being victimized by computer intrusion.

Trust and Estate Planning in Today’s Environment

Presenter: Joan Grimes, Attorney, Law Office of Joan Grimes

Join Joan Grimes, local Walnut Creek attorney, for a review of estate planning fundamentals and learn what’s new in estate planning for 2021. Learn about Proposition 19 and how it may affect your estate plan. And join in a discussion of proposed changes to the tax code as they relate to your estate plan.
